  1. The introductory weekend was great! It was intense but a wonderful learning experience. Everyone was very nice and made the weekend fun. It reinforced my decision to go into Massage Therapy. It was exciting to be able to practice the massage techniques on each other. I look forward to continuing on....except maybe Anatomy & Physiology!!! Thanks everyone, Linda Mitchell

  4. It's been awhile since I've felt such energy and enthusiasm toward something. A lot of it was knowing that I was surrounded by people who are equally excited! I too am actually enjoying the assignments, but definitely not happy right now with my computer! Must close to perform some reiki on it ....

  5. It was a very exciting, informative, energizing and most of all fun weekend. I am excited to learn the functions of the muscles and how massage can benefit each one. I enjoyed meeting each of you and look forward to continuing the relationship.

  6. Late posting, but not for lack of enthusiasm for this training but rather a blog blocker energy in the web browser...
I am really feeling amazing about the work and the team. It was great to get some cupping going, to receive massages and to give them too.
My general feeling is that there is TONS to learn, and diving in is the best way to begin to get comfortable with the information and the massage work. I have given some massage since, and I find myself trying to picture the muscles and feel for the edges and ends.
My community is very enthusiastic as well so within the next month I am hoping to have a space to practice regularly, at the moment I am anxiously awaiting the massage video so I can get some really good moves locked in my mind to do while I have someone on the table.

Thanks to everyone for the beautiful energy and enthusiasm. It's still carrying me through this. I am looking forward to coming together again with classmates and instructors at the next level to help each other grow and come into our own in this healing work.

  7. So a very late post! I've been very busy balancing a full semester of classes on top of massage work but am loving the challange!

I really enjoyed the intensive weekend and thought it prepared us very well for the work ahead. I do wish it could have been spread out over a couple weekends perhaps so we could have spent more time on everything but it was very understandable having to have it condensed to fit everyones' schedule.

I'd have to say the cupping session was the most interesting just because it was something I had never seen or experienced before. The picture of my back that my little sister took after that was quite the conversation starter when some of my friends saw it. They are all terrified that I might ask to practice that on them. I've reassured them that massage is all I'll be practicing for now!

I can't wait to move ahead with the program and look forward to getting back together with the group for more work and practice times!

  8. Hi everyone,
Hope you are all well, and enjoying the sunny, warm weather. I joined the Summer group/program, weekend of May 1st & 2nd. This past weekend, for our intensive training at the Pyramid, was wonderful! I really enjoyed meeting everyone, and being part of a professional, supportive, healthy program. I am looking forward to this journey, I hope to stay connected with those involved, and find time to meet up and practice (as well as discuss our progress) with everyone.
I enjoyed the hands on approach from this weekend, especially receiving the massages ;o)
Everything was remarkable, and I am so excited about this new opportunity!
    Peace~

  9. I really enjoyed the introductory weekend. Although it was a little more intense than I had expected, I feel like I got a lot of insight on the program and the practice of massage in general. This was what I was hoping to get out of this past weekend so I thank the instructors for that.

I can't pin point just one aspect of the weekend that i enjoyed because there are many. I enjoyed being able to practice the different techniques and styles of massage. For me, this was the most important thing I learned because I will be using them in the future and I am a hands on person so I felt like I picked up on them fairly quickly. I also enjoyed the relaxing parts of the weekend such as the salt cave and receiving the massages. Ahhhh, I'm still feeling the effects of them. :-)

I'am very excited to start this journey and I have to say, I have no concerns. I left the pyramid feeling confident in my abilities and I know that it can only get better from here.

    Thanks again, Trista

  10. It was great to spend the weekend in intensive work with the staff and students. Very nice to meet everyone and explore so many different bodywork techniques. I look forward to exploring the modules and how we all grow into our practice.

  11. Hello Everyone,
It was a great weekend, thank you! I really enjoyed learning the massage techniques and styles. I could have spent the week practicing. I really enjoyed meeting my fellow students and instructors. The salt cave allowed my creative thinking to return and the yoga reminded me of what I was missing. Ahh...moments.!! Look forward to working with everyone!

  12. Well Hello All....I hope I am doing this right, I don't see any posts from this class.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED the entire weekend!
Everyone was so welcoming and comfortable, I feel I was truly cared about on all angles :)
I think the most exciting thing for me was/is the prospect of all the things I Didn't Know. For example the ear candles I had never heard of or experienced. I can't wait to see whats next.
I was hesitant about how "good I would be" and how well I would fit; but this weekend proved to dispel all of that for me.
Heres to a Healthy and Fullfilling journey for us all.

  16. Finally I figured out how to blog!! I am so happy I chose the Pyramid Massage School. The introductory week end was full of information. What I feel I will benefit most from this class is the experience, expertise and giving from four different individual instructors who are all willing to give and share their knowledge.
WOW...cupping, ear candling, Reiki, massage techniques, anatomy, salt cave, massages, yoga. How could one walk away from the week end with anything but, a sense of well being and ready for an exciting new period of growth!

Bill and Daria, thank you for your time that Friday night, explaining the program and making be WANT to be part of it! Margret, thank you for two days of intense work on my shoulders...they have never felt better and still do! Roman, thank you for a great massage and being my adviser. Thank you for all for this program...it is more than I ever excepted!

Thank You to all of you there. You Rock!!!!!

  18. I really enjoyed the introductory weekend; however it was a lot of information to absorb in the amount of time given. The time seemed to fly by because of the way the material was broken up. It was a bonus learning from knowledgeable and caring instructors with lots of real life experience, and great personalities. Trying to learn from someone with certain personalities can be very difficult. I was excited about all the diverse material in this program. Our class worked very well together, and everyone seems to be serious about being professional in their work, kind hearted, and easy to get along with. With all the yucky energy out there, it is great to have met people with such positive energy. The class members, students, and others that I have met through the Pyramid all seem wonderful, and I look forward to learning in an environment where there is so much support from the instructors, and the support we can provide for each other as students. It would be great if we could set up study groups, my schedule is open, so whenever we can squeeze it in.

  21. So I guess I’ll share my experience with the intensive weekend. I was really nervous at first because I wasn’t sure if I was doing the right thing, but after we go into it I realized I was in the right place. Another thing that got me nervous was being mostly naked in a room full of people. The first day I was really tense, but by the third day I was comfortable with the whole routine of it. I was also extremely exhausted by the third day. Overall, I really enjoyed the whole thing. It was a lot of work and I was kind of sick throughout it, but I really enjoyed the entire experience and look forward to more hands on weekends.

  22. The introductory weekend was a blast! The instructors had a great sense of humor and made the weekend very fun and interesting! I had a great feeling about it as soon as I walked in and was not at all disappointed! It was a long day but it flew by. It definitely didn't seem like eight hours. I feel that all the material that we're covering is fun to learn. I don't mind sitting down at night and actually studying it. I'm already looking forward to the next weekend!

  23. Ok, so it's been almost a month now but I'm FINALLY connected on here! I felt that the introductory weekend helped me to reconnect with myself. I had great experiences with all of the different techniques (I LOVED fire cupping!). Intense is definitely a great word for this course, followed by exciting, exhilarating, and fun! I don't think I've ever enjoyed a 3 day course the way I did this one (and I've sat through a lot of them). The overall feel of the weekend had me looking forward to the next one by the time I got home on Day 3. Can't wait to see you all again on Friday!

  24. I can't say enough about our intro weekend! I had so much fun and I keep bragging to everyone about all we learned. The professors are amazing, the things we learn are interesting, plus who can complain about spending three days helping your(and others) personal wellness? I can't wait for Friday!

  25. The introductory weekend was very fun! I loved all of the hands on practicing and wasn't expecting to learn all of the new things such as ear candles, fire cupping, bamboo sticks, etc. while listening to the lectures while we did our hands on was great also. The teachers helped a lot and are super friendly which makes a long weekend much more enjoyable. Can't wait to learn more!

  26. Apologies for letting so much time elapse from my first post here!
Our 3-day introductory weekend was a lot of fun. Even though I had previously taken an introductory massage class, I learned many new things. Although there was so much new material covered in a relatively short period, the pacing of the class was great. The instructors are very approachable which makes this program even better. Looking forward to learning more.

  27. Our intro weekend was awesome! I was off to a rough start, but was relaxed and enthused (?) by the end!! I'm super excited to learn more and refine all of it! And I'm really exciting to use all my friends and family for practice! what's better then learning how to take care of those you love, on those you love, right? : ) I think it makes it fun and interesting...and also humbling. : )

And thank you so much to everyone for being welcoming to Hope! She really liked you guys!! : )

Side note: I must also apologize for the late post here - I've also been experiencing computer issues, but am now back online, hopefully for good, with no further incidents. : )

  29. Hello everyone! Sorry it has taken me so long to post as well...I had been trying all week, but couldn't get the blog site to load properly and I sure hope I am posting this in the right spot!
The introductory weekend was exhausting but amazing! It was definitely a long and both physically and mentally challenging experience, but one that I truly enjoyed. THe instructors were great, down to earth people who were willing to teach at whatever pace we set for them. The hands on experiences were the most rewarding for myself, as we got to truly learn as we went.

I feel a little daunted about where massage therapy might take me, but it is also something that I have wanted to experience for quite some time and am no longer willing to put it off. Either way, I know that it will be both a challenging journey for myself, and also a rewarding one no matter where it takes me.

Thanks for such an amazing weekend everyone and to many more!

  31. wow...all that rigamarole just to put up a few words....WOW... this is not my favorite medium... and I am ready to tell Google where it can go... ok...deep breath... love technology :-)

Well, It was a wonderful weekend and I am glad that it all worked out as it did. This distance learning piece will be the most difficult as attending a class helps to keep me focus and engaged... which is what our weekend did...and now the world of balancing life, child, work etc.

I am excited to get to know our educators better and explore their areas of expertise. I am particularly pleased with the energy medicine components of the course, as well as the clinical hands-on aspects. I look forward to fine tuning these tools, our various strokes/modalities and moving into a space of truly being able to help people... on the physical, mental and emotional and spiritual levels.

Thanks for putting this program together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)

  32. What a surprising intro weekend to this holistic massage program! I came into the program with the thought of stretching myself a bit and creating a career to begin this shaky and changing 2nd half of my life. What I realized is how serendipitous it is to find a path that encompasses so many of the little bits and pieces of interests i have explored through the years. I will always use the term holistic as i work through these classes, because i see this not only as treating the whole person, but also as wrapping all my spiritual pursuits into one way of being. I don't want to simply be a kook who sees auras or digs into astrology - or to be a reiki master or a massage therapist or a feng shui practitioner. I want to be a healer -- who can address body, mind, and spirit from a place of deep peace and presence.
And this feels so right. I felt a deep sense of nurturing and a natural ability to pass along compassion as I immersed myself in giving and receiving massage. I know the details of the program - anatomy - muscles - planes of the body - omg! - will be a serious challenge. But, I do believe when the spirit is on the right path, details will find a way.
The weekend was long, especially Saturday. It was filled with information and I felt I got a good sense of the teachers with each of their unique offerings. I was surprised at how I felt for the few days after the weekend. I spent several very emotional days - crying often - welling up with very little cause - and I'm not sure whether it was exhaustion or possibly bringing my deeper and more vulnerable self to the surface. Either way, I am glad to be part of this. It feels bigger than massage to me - as if I am finding my true path - maybe finally coming to a place where I can freely offer all I have to give. I am grateful for this opportunity.

  33. Hello Fellow Pyramid Bloggers!!!
My name is Jessica O’Brien; I started the Pyramid Holistic Wellness Centers Massage Certification Program in August. I was in a class with three other women besides myself. I had no idea what to expect when I signed up for the program. I was a bit nervous of what a course mostly done through the computer at home entailed. Although I was a little at ease because I worked at the Pyramid for a period of time with the welcoming pyramid crew of: Bill, Margret, Darya, Roman, and Josh. I knew that they would be helpful. Back when I did work at the Pyramid I was going through a rough relationship and over all hard time in my life. The only piece of mind during that point in my life was when I was around all these extremely positive uplifting souls. These people showed me some of the powers of positive thinking and holistic healing could achieve in people’s lives. I used what I learned from the Pyramid and made positive decisions with my life.
I had always been interested in massage and chiropractic work when I was first introduced to it while I was out in California visiting my Aunt Renee’ over the summers off school. My Aunt had a career in massage therapy for a period of between 7-10 years. I had my first massage when I was thirteen and my first chiropractic visit. The chiropractor hurt me pretty badly so I was turned off by and bone cracking. It didn’t affect my love of a good massage though.
While I was working at the Pyramid I started to gain an interest in glassblowing. I met someone that was a client through the Pyramid whom knew a local glassblower. I ended up getting referred for a job. I worked and learned glassblowing for about a year. Then I decided to become a full-time student. There was enough time for both. I went to the College of Saint Josephs for a year, and then was going to enroll in the Community College of Vermont when I was looking around for different massage programs and stumbled across The Pyramids I knew it would be a perfect fit. The intensive weekend program couldn't have happened at an optimum time. I had to hold off on going back to school for a semester to get help from VSAC with tuition, but I’m so glad I did. Now I am currently doing my Massage Certification and will be enrolling in CCV come January to finish my business degree.
Overall the intensive weekends were not too intense. There was four grate Fridays of us getting together laughing and learning. Bill covered all the business ethics. He also did my Reiki atonement, which I will never be able to give enough thanks for. I have been practicing Reiki and Massage on friends and family and they love me for it. I love this program for giving me this opportunity. This is one more stepping stone to my journey on the happy, healthy, and holistic path of my life.

  34. I thought the weekend was amazing!! I learned so many things in the first couple days my brain hurts! Im very excited about all the upcoming classes and different types of massage that we are going to learn. I'm really curious about using the aura photos w/ clients and tying them in w/ the bodywork they need. And I have to say, I feel really comfortable w/ all the professors and students when working together. I think its going to be a really good learning experience.

  35. I had a great time this weekend! I felt a rush from all the information that was being given to us. I finally feel like I found a starting point for a career path and I am very excited to be getting my training from pyramid massage. I especially loved getting right into hands-on work and learning techniques already. I can't wait to learn more!

    1. I agree with Mindy, although I had a fantastic weekend learning all these various massage techniques hands on, and I understand the time restraint that the professors have when teaching us,I kind of felt that some of these were quick and rushed...

  36. Personally, I had a fantastic time for our first weekend!! I felt that I had gained a lot of knowledge/experience after the first couple of days. I was very eager to be able to learn all the different types massage techniques hands on, which was great! I absolutely loved seeing my aura and finding out what the significance for each color. I have to admit that I feel very comfortable as well with all of the professors/students in this program, and I am confident that this is going to be an amazing year and I am looking forward to all this incredible journey towards a new career path in this field!!! :D

  42. This weekend was wonderful. Once I got home Sunday night I was so pumped up I stayed up until midnight! I just couldn't wait to dig into the material and start learning. I truly enjoyed working with my classmates and Margaret, Darya, Roman and Bill were incredible teachers. I look forward to working with them and absorbing as much knowledge from them as possible. I wish I didn't have to work full time because all I want to do is get immersed in this process. As it is, as I walk down the hall at work I imagine giving people massages. Good thing they don't know what's going through my mind!

  43. I thought it was a great weekend. It was a long weekend and I feel like I learned quite a bit about massage and I know that we just toched the surface. I like that the atomosphere for the learning was open and fun. It's never fun to learn in a strict sit and listen environment for me so I thought that was great. I look forward to working with all the instructors as I thought they were great and non-intimidating.

  44. I thought that the introductory weekend was great. I left on Saturday and Sunday so excited that I finally found a program that I think is perfect for me. The time throughout the weekend was split up nicely between subjects so that we felt as though we had a breather before moving onto something else. The instructors were all very inspiring and I know that they truly want to see us succeed in this journey of becoming massage therapists.

  47. LYNDSAY SUNDERLAND-The intense weekend was packed full of information, touching on a little bit of many aspects...the opportunity to watch and attempt cupping certainly has me intrigued! 49. I had a great time during our first weekend together! I really feel intrigued and can tell this is so right for me (I can also finally stop switching majors). The salt cave was phenomenal and I'm really glad that we are already doing hands on learning/techniques. I was very excited about the Aura photographs as well, so neat to see how unique they are to each person. Overall I feel like I learned a lot, and also that I have a lot to learn. This will be lots of fun and lots of work, but I am excited for what lies ahead.

  51. I really enjoyed the introductory weekend! It was so great to meet all of the instructors, having an opportunity tot with work with them, as well as meeting some fellow students. I wish the weekend as a bit longer as our weekend was shortened due to student schedules and trying to coordinate everyone. I really enjoyed being exposed to a variety of holistic modalities such as cupping and ear candling. It was so fun learning. The aura photo was so wild and something I hadn't seen before either. The actual hands on practice for a newbie like myself was so valuable and having one on one time with the instructor was great. Although I know I have so much to still learn, I left this weekend adventure feeling excited about learning more as well as confident in my decision to study and practice massage. It will be such an asset to have as a nurse.

  52. I enjoy fast paced learning, so the intensive weekend is perfect for me. It was great getting a basic overview of the history, ethics, hygiene, and these general topics out of the way, then dove into actual observation and hand on practice. Both the ear candling and the cupping were treatments I had not experienced before, let alone perform, so that was fun. The laid back atmosphere and learning environment is great, and I look forward to spending many hours practicing massage with my fellow students, and learning great techniques that will give me an edge. Thank you and I am excited to proceed and progress in the world of holistic wellness.

  53. I thoroughly enjoyed the intensive weekend. I saw and learned way more than I had expected. I enjoyed that my horizion so to speak was widened by new things that I never thought I would enjoy. For example Reiki and fire cupping. I was very stand offish at first with both things. As they were explained to me and I experienced them, I now am very interested in both! I tend to always keep an opened mind, and this is why I should keep it that way!

  54. Weekend Massage Intensive Weekend
    September 19 and 20, 2015

My time during the intensive weekend was a positive and life affirming experience. What a rare opportunity for me to have an entire weekend dedicated to learning massage and being open to new things like cupping, gem stones therapy, and ear candling. I went through a massage program in Indiana back in 1999 and the school was called The Healthy Lifestyle School of Massage Therapy. After graduating I began practicing massage, teaching yoga, and starting a family and it has been about 10 years since I have practiced massage. One of the reasons why I picked The Pyramid Massage Program is to get back into having a massage practice and starting a business in doing bodywork and perhaps teaching yoga again. I feel very rusty in my knowledge of anatomy and physiology and The Pyramid's distance learning program will let me do self study and get in practicum hours without compromising my day job.
I went into the intensive weekend with not many expectations and was pleasantly surprised to know that the class size was small. (4 students and 4 instructors) Not a bad ratio!!! My partner Jennifer is also attending the program and it feels wonderful to both be working towards a common goal and to share in this experience together. Jennifer has not had much experience with giving or receiving massage (she's going to be a natural though!) and is incredibly excited to be enrolled in the program. We both feel blessed to have this chance together to experience new things and work towards a common goal.
One of the new experiences that I had during the weekend was with cupping. Cupping is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which local suction is created on the skin that mobilizes blood flow. Margaret demonstrated an experience of cupping and explained the benefits to bringing blood flow to localized areas that help treat pain, deep scar tissue, and to help with muscle knots.
We got a chance to practice cupping techniques on each other and it took me awhile to be able to get the timing right with the alcohol, flames, and cup placement. After a few tries I managed to get a few onto Jennifer's back and Margaret helped me to do a butterfly pattern that covered her back. There was one cup on my neck where the suction was strong and it was left on for a long time. After the cup was taken off, Darya came over and did some deep tissue work on that area of my neck which brought me to tears. My neck was in a lot of pain, but Darya worked on my neck the next day which brought me out of the pain cycle that I was on. Thanks Darya!!! When the pain finally was relieved and I got my range of motion back my neck felt better than it has in a year or so. It was some long held and deep tension that was relieved and I think the cupping along with Darya's massage brought healing and balance to a long time problem area of my body.
All in all, I had a great experience during the weekend and felt like I made a strong connection with the other students and instructors. Bill said the massage program at The Pyramid Holistic Center is like joining a family. I certainly felt the vibe that he spoke of and look forward to being a part of all that goes on as we embark on this journey together!!

    Cheers,

    Brian

  55. I really enjoyed the intensive weekend. The thing that impressed me the most was the intense individuality of all the instructors and they way they are each alive and deeply present in their own lives. They were all very available as teachers--meaning they were experienced and capable and smart AND fully willing to share their experience and knowing. I loved learning from all of them.

They taught me a lot in a short time, given that I have never done massage before--practical things such as how to set up the massage table, draping and body mechanics, strokes and lotions/gels to use. Just by being who they are, they also presented deeper teaching/modeling about putting the thinking mind aside and going with your intuition, or letting your heart or body or subconscious lead you to the right place. I really appreciated that.

The hands on demonstration of cupping was really interesting.

I look forward to seeing everyone who comes to the Reiki training on Nov. 1. Thanks!

  57. I thought the intensive weekend was a great way to dive into the teaching of massage therapy heads on. I had only decided a few days before to attend the massage school. So i hadn't fully readied myself mentally for what is to come. The instructors made sure I was understanding the instructions and techniques. I felt like i was in very capable hands.I'm so happy i decided to take the certification, and to go towards my new goal to become a licensed massage therapist.

  58. There were many aspects of the weekend that I enjoyed. It was a very exciting time for many of us. The idea of starting a new career continues to fuel my dedication to my coursework and massage practice. I really enjoyed sitting in the salt cave with fellow classmates on Sunday morning. It was really relaxing. Such a great way to start the day. I also enjoyed learning about cupping techniques and learning the basic massage strokes. It was great to get an overview of all aspects of the education, anatomy, pathology, history etc. Overall it was a very positive experience. I am excited to work with such a talented staff and diverse group of insightful students.

It was a chilly weekend. I run cool anyway. It did warm up a bit after the heat was fixed. I am considering buying a table warmer for working in cooler settings.

Our instructors are friendly, cheerful, and fun which made a great first impression. They made themselves available for questions and concerns and kept the learning experience light. I was most impressed by the supportive and caring feedback. Many times we were told not to worry and that this was a lot of information to take on at once. This was very encouraging.

The cupping introductory was very interesting. I was hoping to see the bamboo massage and I’d like to watch a hot stone massage as well.

I’m looking forward to meeting up on the 23rd of February to review cupping. I hope that we can continue small workshops to supplement learning in healing techniques. (body wraps, chair massage, pregnancy massage, reflexology etc.)

Thank you for all that you do to make this opportunity possible. I am truly grateful to be enrolled in the Pyramid’s Holistic Wellness Massage Therapy Training Program.

  59. The massage weekend was awesome!!! All the teachers are wonderful. No complaints at all about anything. All the other students were kind and helpful. I learned so much and am grateful for the time I got practicing massage for the first time. I liked being able to inspect the tables with the advice of the teachers. I am very excited about my future with massage and the weekend just intensified it. Everything about the weekend was great. It was long, intense, and worth it.

  60. The introductory weekend was an incredible experience! The instructors are welcoming, supportive, have a great sense of humor, and trust us to learn on our own through experience. Our cohort of learners are incredible people who care deeply about healing others. Walking away from the weekend with an intro to cupping, the ability to ear candle, an intro to reiki, and a lot of massaging practice feels rewarding and encouraging. Leaving the weekend and re-entering real life I feel overwhelmed with gratitude and potential. Thank you!

  61. Thank you for an amazing introductory weekend. Pyramid's program is everything I hoped for and more. I am so impressed with the team of teachers, the weekend surpassed my expectations. I had a tremendous amount of stress outside of class the weeks leading up to school starting. The environment is so soothing, being in that environment was exactly what I needed. I am so happy to have found this program. I feel like I landed exactly where I need to be & I feel that I am in the hands of competent teachers & healers. Thank you.

  62. The introductory weekend is certainly intensive, although I did not feel it was too overwhelming. All the instructors demonstrated great care and understanding regarding the amount of information presented to us, eliminating any sense of pressure I may have anticipated. Their personalities - as well as those of our student group - created a warm, welcoming atmosphere; I felt relaxed and enjoyed myself throughout. I look forward to exploring my potential here at Pyramid!
